You have anxiety and here is why

First, I would like to read to you the comments from a couple of my friends with anxiety who explained to me what it means for them to live with anxiety. My first friend told me that anxiety is something that goes beyond one’s own limits. It is something unconscious that is difficult to control. There are many fears, but it is more complex than saying that you are afraid of something as he said, “I feel it as a lack of confidence or security that everything is fine. My mind flies very fast as if someone else had control of myself and the struggle for me is in me not being able to gain control of my body, my mind, and my feelings.” Another friend told me that anxiety is fear, but it is not fear to die, but it’s the fear to keep living. As for myself, I don’t have many episodes of anxiety, but my anxiety experiences have been related more to social pressure than to existential matters since I am an introverted and shy person.

Truth Vs Reality

According to the DSM-5 Generalized Anxiety Disorder is defined as persistent and excessive anxiety and worry about a number of domains in the person’s life, present for at least 6 months. With that being said, we can conclude that all of those people that claim to suffer anxiety based on a mild short term episode, cannot be considered to be a true victim of this disorder.
